June birthday work cake
My husband's friend left a message for him this morning saying that he had showed his Mom some of my cakes. She's a caterer or something like that and she was wondering if I'd be interested in being one of her vendors for wedding cakes. Wedding cakes make me soooo nervous. I've only done one wedding cake..... I don't even know if I'm wedding cake material..... I honestly don't think I'm good enough.....There are still so many imperfections in my cakes and wedding cakes have to be flawless. **ok, breathe...**
My husband had to leave a message when he called his friend back so we'll see what happens. I had another lady tell me a few weeks ago to let her know if I decided to do wedding cakes too. She works at The Victorian House in Kaufman, and she said she'd see if she could get me hooked up there. Even talking about this is making my stomach hurt.

It's finished!!!
And it didn't fall over on the way to their house. YAY! I waited to put the very top tier on when I got there. The 2 tiers was extremely heavy, so I didn't want to chance putting another one on it. I was sure it would topple over then.
It really wasn't as hard as I expected either. Icing them was the hardest part. It helps a lot when the cakes have been crumb coated and chilled. I made a bow, but it was too big & heavy so it wouldn't stay on the cake.
I'm happy with the way it turned out...I guess I'll attempt another one soon.

Topsy Turvy Cake
I've been asked to replicate this cake.
This is the 1st time for me to make a topsy turvy cake. So far the cakes have been baked, leveled, and are chilling in the fridge to be iced tomorrow.
I always hate transporting cakes, but this one is going to cause me tons of anxiety. I sure hope my dowels do their jobs. I'm off now to color fondant *yuck*. I'll post pics as I progress...Tuesday, March 3, 2009
My Baby Shower Cake
Yes, I made my own cake. This is like the one I wanted and I couldn't let my friends spend a crazy amount of money to have someone else do it, so I did it myself. I hated cutting into it though.
